Psquare are back! That’s the level of excitement that they want us to feel when we think about therm. The twins, Peter and Paul Okoye, who are legends have spent every two years since their inception, squabbling. Most of their fighst have been in secret, but a majority are public displays of anger and pettiness.
2016 have had them demystify themselves by hanging their linens out in the open sun. And what dirt did it pack. Fans have cried, opinions have been shared, people have waded in, and everyone has expressed their angles.
But what was the end goal? Nothing. The Okoye twins gained nothing. They simply took what was an internal problem, and muddied social media with it.
They have had a reconciliation, worked through their issues, and have reached the stage where they need to go back to releasing music. What comes out of it? Nothing symbolic.
There’s no new angle to their art. Nothing acknowledges their struggles to stay as a group, and their art bears no renewed energy nor substance.
What we have is ‘Bank Alert’; a neo-Highlife song about a woman, and the many ways in which can be worshipped. There’s a guitar accompaniment all through the jam, as Paul works through his lines and cries out about his wealth which he hopes to impress the lady with. This is the Psquare that we have come to know and appreciate.
But nothing has changed. It’s still same old, same old. f still Paul walking all over the song, riding waves and trying to score their next big hit. Peter shows up in the tight spaces, edging along the vocals to justify his role in the group.
You Need To hear This. Just because it’s Psquare. Any other thing you expect to hear is not present.
